Melissa's Background

Melissa Sandeen has over 20 years of experience working as a psychotherapist in Humboldt County. She has experience with many forms of therapy, including EMDR, Equine Assisted Psychotherapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and the Neuro-Affective Relational Model (NARM). She received her certification as a Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapist from The Psychedelic Research and Training Institute, and also offers psychedelic integration sessions.

Experience and Approach

Melissa is a trauma informed strength based clinician with a firm belief that we all have within us the innate ability to heal and discover our potential once we are able to navigate that which gets in the way of connecting with our most authentic self. Her priority as a therapist is to be authentic, present and curious; developing a safe space where one can feel free to be themself without fear of judgement. Melissa's modalities include:

Structural Family, Humanistic, Relational, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Experiential.

Melissa has great respect for the healing potential of Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy. She views the medicine as a catalyst for new growth and transformation. Ketamine goes beyond treating symptoms, facilitating the removal of barriers to ones innate healing intelligence, allowing oneself to fully heal and live according to ones truest values.
