Accepts Medi-Cal (Partnership HealthPlan) and Carelon
Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Kayla's Background
Kayla is a DNP-prepared Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) who provides diagnostic psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and ketamine-assisted psychotherapy. She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Sacramento State, then completed a second bachelor’s in nursing at Dominican University of California to begin working as a psychiatric nurse. During her time as an RN, Kayla developed a strong interest in providing more comprehensive care, leading her to pursue a master’s degree at UCSF to become a PMHNP. She later earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from OHSU, where her research focused on psychedelic-assisted therapies for veterans with PTSD. Passionate about healing, she brings a broad knowledge base that includes psychiatric medications, psychedelic medicine, herbalism, functional medicine, and a variety of psychotherapeutic approaches. She emphasizes whole-person care and practices with deep listening at the core of her work.
Experience and Approach
With nearly a decade of experience in mental health — primarily supporting veterans facing PTSD, substance use disorders, and homelessness in residential treatment — Kayla brings compassion and expertise to her practice. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with loved ones, hiking, camping, reading, and continuing her lifelong love of learning.
At the Center for New Growth, Kayla offers psychiatric medication management, ketamine-assisted therapy treatment, Spravato treatment, and functional psychiatry.
