Brandon Houston, LPCC

Integration Therapist

Brandon's Background

While an undergraduate, Brandon serendipitously found himself studying transpersonal psychology within a unique psychology program at Sonoma State University. It was there that he was first introduced to the healing potential of altered and holotropic states, an exposure that would quietly shape the arc of his life’s work.

A lifelong student of healing-oriented psychology and transformational practices, Brandon is proud to carry forward the lineage of psychedelic therapy that emerged in the 1960s, prior to its interruption during the War on Drugs. For over twenty years, he has been engaged in his own healing and psycho-spiritual integration process, both for personal transformation and in support of others walking similar paths.

Brandon’s primary spiritual home is within non-dual buddhist traditions, where he has trained intensively for two decades. His clinical work is further informed by over a decade of participation in Gestalt training communities, as well as his study of classical somatic approaches to healing from a Reichian perspective.

At the heart of Brandon’s life path is integration: healing from past trauma, metabolizing life-altering spiritual experiences, and grounding the insights of non-ordinary states into the lived realities of family life, community, and care for the world. He is particularly known for his work with leaders, helping them untangle internal patterns so those dynamics are less likely to be unconsciously reproduced in the systems they build.

Brandon maintains a private therapy practice in Humboldt County. Outside of his clinical work, he enjoys time with his family, being on the beautiful land we call home, and spending time in the water. He also tends a small grove of redwoods and often finds himself daydreaming about how to support the return of old-growth forest sanctuaries.

Experience and Approach

Brandon has been a practicing clinician for over a decade. He is a Buddhist-informed Gestalt therapist with a strong relational and somatic orientation. His work emphasizes presence, attunement, and partnering with the imagination to support the healing process.

At its core, Brandon believes the most profound healing that occurs in psychedelic spaces often restores simple and essential human capacities: the ability to care for oneself, to reach out for support and to live with greater ease and compassion. He places particular value on integration that shows up in small, tangible ways in everyday life.
